OUR STORY: LOVE & BASKETBALL
Tania Henao and Gregory Kershaw first met in the summer of 2017 at the Monumental Sports company picnic in Washington, D.C. That following spring, a Wizards matchup with the Raptors in the NBA Playoffs took both Tania & Gregory to Toronto, Canada for a work trip.
While in Toronto, Gregory invited Tania to embrace their New England roots and go see their Boston Red Sox play the Toronto Blue Jays. (Because, of course: sports!) After the game, they spent the evening exploring the city and ended up at a dive bar called Underground Garage where they danced the remainder of the night away. In August of 2021, Gregory planned a brunch with friends and told Tania they were meeting a few more people down the street afterwards at a local bar called Calico, which is where they had one of their first dates in D.C. However, as they were walking toward the bar, Gregory shocked Tania by proposing in front of the iconic “LOVE” mural in Blagden Alley. They then walked to another bar where their friends — including Tania’s family and college friends who secretly flew into town — were waiting anxiously to surprise her with an engagement party immediately after!
Tania and Gregory are so excited to begin the next phase of their lives together and can’t wait to celebrate with you in May!
